About the Event

Indulge yourself and your loved ones with an exceptional concert in the beautifully candlelit setting of St Mary le Strand. Experience the outstanding musicianship of The Piccadilly Sinfonietta alongside renowned concert pianist Christina Lawrie, as they perform Beethoven's beloved second piano concerto and other timeless classical masterpieces. This promises to be a memorable musical evening! Additionally, the area offers plenty of bars and restaurants to complete your night.

Celebrated by International Piano as a rising star, Scottish pianist Christina Lawrie has graced live performances on BBC Radio 3 and Radio Scotland. She has performed as a soloist in the Grieg Concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and given solo recitals at renowned venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cheltenham Music Festival, Purcell Room, South Bank Centre, St. George’s Bristol, and Perth Concert Hall. Her engagements span nearly all of the British Isles, from the Orkney Islands to the Channel Islands.

As part of the Sutherland Duo with violinist Harriet Mackenzie, Christina held the EMS Chamber Music Residency from 2010 to 2012. The duo recently recorded a debut album featuring works by Grieg, Prokofiev, and Tchaikovsky, made possible by Creative Scotland and a private donor. This follows Christina’s solo CD, featuring works by Brahms, Carl Vine, and Rachmaninov, produced by John Fraser, Philip Hobbs, and Julia Thomas, with support from Creative Scotland, Keir Smart, and Pollok House Arts Society.

Since its inception in 2017, The Piccadilly Sinfonietta has been a regular presence on the UK concert scene, performing more than 200 times a year in some of the country's most beautiful and prestigious venues. The ensemble, comprising exceptional musical talents, collaborates exclusively with leading virtuoso soloists. Founded by concert pianist Warren Mailley‐Smith, the group performs under his artistic direction and specializes in the virtuoso concerto repertoire of the baroque, classical, and early romantic periods.
