About Raphael Lang
Raphael Lang, the French/American cellist and Sub‐Principal Cello with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, frequently performs with eminent groups like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, and United Strings of Europe.
Concert tours with ensembles such as the Vivo Piano Trio and Arcana Ensemble have taken him to destinations across Russia, the Baltic, and the United States.
Supported by the Leverhulme Trust and the Shoresh Charitable Trust, Raphael graduated with distinction (DipRAM) from the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying under David Strange and Mats Lidström. He won numerous awards, including the May Mukle Prize, the David Martin/Florence Hooton Prize, the Wolfe Wolfinsohn Prize, the Robert Alva Memorial Prize, the Sir Peter Halling Prize, and the Ruth Waddell Fund Award. He served as a Leverhulme Mentor for the 2012/2013 year.
