Orchestra della Toscana – Erina Yashima & Kristof Barati
Florence, Teatro Verdi — main
About the Event
Erina Yashima leads the Orchestra della Toscana in a concert featuring Brahms' Violin Concerto, performed by Kristóf Baráti, and Beethoven's Second Symphony. Yashima, of Japanese origin but holding a German passport, studied in Germany and Vienna before becoming the first female conductor of the Komische Oper in Berlin. She has assisted renowned conductors like Riccardo Muti, Esa‐Pekka Salonen, and Zubin Mehta, making her presence in the ORT's programs invaluable.
For her return to the ORT, Yashima presents two iconic works from the 19th‐century Viennese repertoire: Brahms' Violin Concerto and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2. These pieces showcase the evolution of their composers, with the concerto displaying Brahms' mature style inspired by Joseph Joachim, while Beethoven's symphony marks a pivotal moment in his career. Kristóf Baráti's performance on a 1703 Stradivarius seamlessly brings these masterpieces to life in a captivating and memorable evening.
