Aria Tango Bolero: Balletto di Milano
About the Event
In memory of and on the occasion of Micha van Hoecke's 80th birthday, Aria Tango (2013) is revived by Miki Matsuse for Balletto di Milano and Versiliana Festival. Made to songs by Luis Bacalov, Oscar winner for the soundtrack of the film “Il postino,” which has its roots in Tango and Gypsy culture, it is a “choreographic poem” in which van Hoecke, without any didactic intent, in a timeless and surreal atmosphere, recounts states of mind, fears, fears, passions.
In the second act, Maurice Ravel's celebrated Boléro in the exclusive version of the Milan Ballet: not just a game of seduction, but the eternal story of a birth, of an inevitable attraction to a similar being, of a multiplication of encounters. Sinuous bodies come to life and weave a dance that drags in the musical crescendo to the surprising finale. Dynamic choreography that grows with the music and culminates in the sensational finale.
