Dresdner Musikfestspiele: Sasha Waltz & Guests 'In C'
Dresden, Schauspielhaus — Main Hall
About the Event
A pioneering dance presentation by Sasha Waltz set to the minimalist opus 'In C' by Terry Riley.
At the Music Festival, Sasha Waltz embarks on her first venture with "In C," a vibrant journey through the realm of minimal music. Her lauded choreography draws from Terry Riley's groundbreaking 1964 composition, a cornerstone of minimal music that drastically reshaped its landscape. Waltz intertwines an intricate choreography that mirrors the 53 melodic phrases of the composition. "It explores the theme of individuality within a collective," remarks Waltz. Complementing the dance, the Swiss industrial group The Young Gods performs live, encapsulating the zeitgeist in action. In Waltz’s view, the performance is a unifying force: “There is a steady rhythm that syncs us to a single pulse.”
