Janine Jansen & Denis Kozhukhin
Brussels, Palais des Beaux‐Arts — Henry le Boeuf Hall
About the Event
Experience the captivating sounds of classical music by luminaries Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and Clara Wieck Schumann at the iconic Palais des Beaux‐Arts in Brussels. The esteemed Dutch violinist Janine Jansen graces our halls once more in the 2024‐2025 season, presenting an evocative programme of violin sonatas linked to the Schumanns. The recital kicks off with Robert Schumann's Violin Sonata No. 1, characterized by its fervent expression, and transitions into Johannes Brahms's Violin Sonatas No. 2 and 3, showcasing the talents of his prodigious counterpart. Meanwhile, Clara Schumann, caught in the creative interplay between these two men, shines through her compositions. Her Three Romances emerge after a prolonged hiatus from composing, signaling a brief resurgence of her creative zeal. Unfortunately, following her husband Robert's suicide attempt and subsequent institutionalization, her renewed vigor was short‐lived. The legacy of this Schumann‐Brahams trio endures through Jansen's spirited violin performances.
