About the Event

Experience the enchanting harmonies of classical giants Gustav Mahler, Hector Berlioz, and contemporary composer Nico Muhly at Brussels's esteemed Palais des Beaux‐Arts, a venue celebrated globally for its cultural significance.
Originally conceived for theater, Mahler's Blumine transformed into a symphony movement and eventually stood alone, showcasing the trumpet's distinct voice. In this orchestral interlude, a fervent lyrical exchange unfolds among the wind instruments. Norwegian trumpet virtuoso Tine Thing Helseth excels in both Blumine and Nico Muhly’s freshly crafted Doom Painting. Muhly draws inspiration from Hector Berlioz, a pioneer who dramatically advanced the art of orchestration. Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, a sonic journey depicting unrequited love through innovative techniques and a recurring thematic motif, was groundbreaking in 1830, a mere six years following Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
