1st Laureate Queen Elisabeth Competition 2024 — Violin
Brussels, Palais des Beaux‐Arts — Henry le Boeuf Hall
About the Event
Experience the exquisite tones of classical icons Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich, Maurice Ravel, Leos Janacek, and Yevhen Stankovych at the esteemed Palais des Beaux‐Arts in Brussels. Ukrainian virtuoso Dmytro Udovychenko, who clinched first place at the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition, returns to mesmerize audiences in the Henry Le Boeuf Hall on April 16. Accompanied by pianist Roman Lopatynskyi, his performance will include Shostakovich's unique Sonata for violin and piano. Additionally, the recital will spotlight singular sonatas for violin and piano by Ravel and Janáček. Ravel’s last chamber piece notably flirts with American music, hinting at banjo and saxophone tones in its Blues movement. The evening rounds off with a compelling triptych from modern Ukrainian maestro Yevhen Stankovych.
