La Bohème
Bologna, Comunale Nouveau
About the Event
A glimpse into the life of Parisian youth at the end of the 19th century, Giacomo Puccini's La bohème debuted at the Teatro Regio in Turin on February 1, 1896, with the 29‐year‐old Arturo Toscanini on the podium. Puccini looks to the last Verdi by outlining a dramaturgically and musically very free structure, with a smooth succession between arias and recitatives that allows him to sketch a picture of profound realism in which four youngsters struggling with the inexorable fleetingness of time are the protagonists.
