About the Event

Experience an eagerly awaited concert featuring the harmonious sounds of classical music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, and Osvaldo Golijov at Bologna's cherished and globally acclaimed Chiostro della Basilica di Santo Stefano. In Italy, the string quartet tradition thrives vibrantly, demonstrated by the numerous ensembles actively performing. Among these, the Quartetto Doré stands out. Established in 2022 at the Stauffer Academy in Cremona, the quartet's journey intricately intertwines concert performance with ongoing training—initially guided by the Quartetto di Cremona, and later with the world's premier ensembles, such as the Alban Berg, Ébène, Artemis, Emerson, Ysaÿe, Melos, and Pavel Haas Quartets. Their program seamlessly combines two classic quartets by Mozart and Schubert with a modern piece: Tenebrae (2002) by Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov.

Program

  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – String Quartet no. 14 in G major, K. 387
  • Osvaldo Golijov – Tenebrae (string quartet version)
  • Franz Schubert – Quartet No. 14 in D Minor, D.810 “Death and the Maiden”
