Bologna Festival: Odhecaton and Paolo Da Col
Bologna, Oratorio San Filippo Neri — Main Hall
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Bologna's breathtaking Oratorio San Filippo Neri for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of classical music.
The resonances of 16th‐century polyphony are endless and, through the centuries, they reach the present day. Paolo Da Col and Odhecaton capture them with their usual expertise, presenting a highly original project that plays with reflections, echoes, and contrasts between the musical liturgy of Palestrina and contemporary music. The main structure of the program consists of the Messa Illumina oculos meos, which appears in a manuscript preserved in the Apostolic Chapel, where the famous Missa Papae Marcelli is also found. On this foundation, the influences drawn by composers such as Pärt, Rihm, Stravinsky, and Scelsi from sacred texts of the past are interwoven.
