Bologna Festival: MDI Ensemble
Bologna, Oratorio San Filippo Neri — Main Hall
About the Event
Experience the enchanting melodies of chamber music by Claude Debussy and Daniela Terranova at Bologna's esteemed Oratorio San Filippo Neri in this eagerly‐awaited concert.
The ancient and modern converge effortlessly in this revered venue for the string quartet. Under the guidance of mdi ensemble, the musicians embrace the 'sixteen strings' of the quartet, delivering a stunning rendition of late 19th‐century chamber music such as Debussy's String Quartet in G minor. This piece, crafted in 1893, showcases the profound influence of César Franck and the 'cyclical form,' seamlessly paired with a contemporary composition by Daniela Terranova. Terranova, a protégé of Azio Corghi and Beat Furrer, shares with Debussy a focus on powerful sonic gestures: subtly present in Debussy, explicitly woven into the 'creation of a sound choreography' by the Italian composer.
