A feast for piano lovers: two masterpieces in one concert

On Easter Sunday, a special program awaits you, combining two outstanding compositions for piano and orchestra – works that are always among the favorites of music lovers. And all in the unforgettable atmosphere of the Great Hall at the Konzerthaus Berlin!

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Concerto No. 21 in C major, with Stefan Malzew at the piano, will get the evening off to a start. The slow movement, the Andante, is one of the most well‐known and beautiful moments of his music: a delicately drawn piece full of calm and elegance.

In the second part of the evening, Sergei Rachmaninov's Concerto No. 2 in C minor will be performed by pianist Andreas Schulz. This work impresses with its emotional depth and symphonic grandeur. Rachmaninov composed it during a time of personal renewal, and his melodies and harmonies reflect this intensity. With its impressive combination of piano and orchestra, it is one of the most important piano concertos of the 20th century.

The concert opens with the prelude to Richard Wagner's “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” – a festive piece that gets the evening off to a spirited start.
