Mandelring Quartet: Transformations at Philharmonie Berlin
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Kammermusiksaal
About the Event
“Luxurious poetry of sound”, wrote the Spanish culture magazine Scherzo after a concert by the Mandelring Quartet. The hallmarks of the renowned string quartet, which has been in the top league of the international chamber music scene for over four decades and regularly performs in the most important cultural metropolises such as Paris, Vienna, London, Madrid and New York as well as in Central and South America and Asia, are its expressiveness and phenomenal homogeneity. The ensemble's intense and transparent interpretations bring to life not only the emotional depth, but also the richness and complexity of the works. In the 2024/25 season, the program will focus on works that occupy a special place in the Mandelring Quartet's wide‐ranging repertoire.
In March, everything revolves around transformation: the program includes Ligeti's “Métamorphoses nocturnes”, Haydn's original and richly varied String Quartet No. 34 op. 20/4 and Beethoven's String Quartet No. 15, which already opens the door to Romanticism.
