About the Event
MEAM invites you to dive into the lively 'unplugged' concerts of the Sunday Sounds series, showcasing an eclectic blend of musical styles, including indie, flamenco fusion, tango, and pop. Set off on a unique sonic journey where, consistent with MEAM’s tradition, music harmoniously integrates with art and history.
The union of voice and piano unfolds like a book brimming with pathways. Sandra Rehder and Anne‐Sophie Vallvé unite in a repertoire of tangos, coplas, and boleros resonating in two languages, across two worlds. Songs imbued with the dust of streets and whispers of distant winds. From Gardel to Serrat, from Lorca to María Elena Walsh, music and poetry transcend time, grounded by the earth and carried by the winds of memory.
Presented at the MEAM, this concert becomes a space where painting and sound observe and complement each other. Argentinian singer, poet, and producer Sandra Rehder stands as a prominent figure in Barcelona's tango scene, where she has resided since 2001. Her rich and expressive voice captures the essence of tango while modernizing it for new generations. She has graced stages such as the Barcelona Auditorium, international tango festivals in Granada and Finland, and the Club Atlético Fernández Fierro in Buenos Aires.
Barcelona‐based pianist Anne‐Sophie Vallvé skillfully blends ancient and contemporary music. Trained at the Liceu Conservatory with a specialization in harpsichord, she begins a Master's Degree in Ancient Music at ESMUC this year. Her flawless technique and unique artistic perception add a profound dimension to the musical interplay. This duo promises a memorable night at the MEAM, where contemporary figurative art fuses with timeless tango melodies and other genres, evoking landscapes of shared emotions. An essential event for art and music enthusiasts alike.
