Palau de la Música Catalana
The Palau de la Musica Catalana is a splendid building located in the northern part of Barcelona's old town. This architectural gem of Catalan Modernism, constructed between 1905 and 1908, showcases the region's craftsmanship through stained glass, ceramics, sculptures, paintings, and ironwork. The extensive use of glass in the venue's construction creates breathtakingly radiant interiors. The Palau's red facade is adorned with busts of great composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Wagner, as well as colorful mosaics with floral patterns. At the heart of the Palau is the magnificent concert hall, illuminated entirely by natural sunlight. In the center of its richly decorated ceiling lies an extraordinary skylight. According to Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the Palau's architect, the goal was to create a "garden for music"—a goal that was undoubtedly achieved.
