Female pioneer
Sheila E. grew to become a protégé of Prince, playing on his Purple Rain and Sign O' The Times. In turn, the pop legend produces her debut album, The Glamorous Life, which includes a world hit with the single of the same name. Her duet with Prince, A Love Bizarre, becomes a classic. As a female percussionist, she is a pioneer in the male‐dominated music world. Musically, she can go in any direction — as long as it swings.
