Schuberts Winterreise: Barbara Kozelj & Nino Gvetadze
Amsterdam, De Waalse Kerk
About the Event
In Schubert's famous song cycle Winterreise, we are taken on an icy journey through a winter landscape, where a lonely soul who has just lost his beloved wanders. As he moves through the cold desolate landscape, he is constantly reminded of his broken heart. His search for inner peace eventually leads him to a frozen lake, where he meets the Leiermann (death). Despite Winterreise often being sung by a male voice, the power of the story and the metaphor of human suffering are universal and approachable to all. You will hear Barbara Kozelj (mezzo‐soprano) and Nino Gvetadze (piano) in a performance that touches the listener to the bone.
