Pearls in Baroque: Joseph & Michael Haydn
Amsterdam, Concertgebouw — Recital Hall
About the Event
For a memorable evening featuring Baroque highlights, make your way to the magnificent Concertgebouw in Amsterdam where you'll experience the timeless compositions of Joseph Haydn, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Michael Haydn.
Michael Haydn (1737‐1806), a prolific composer and younger sibling of Joseph Haydn, also enjoyed a close friendship with Mozart. His Requiem of 1771 notably inspired Mozart’s famed 1791 Requiem. His early Concerto for Harpsichord and Viola, written circa 1760, showcases the rare but harmonious pairing of these instruments. The piece, featured alongside Joseph Haydn’s Violin Concerto No. 4 on Pearls in Baroque’s highly acclaimed CD, drew critical praise from Gramophone magazine: 'Terakado and Amano set the standard in Michael’s double concerto.' The event also includes Bach’s Second Orchestral Suite in B Minor.
