Jeff Mills: Blue Potential

About the Event

After the success of his previous concerts, American producer and DJ Jeff Mills is coming back to The Concertgebouw. For Blue Potential, the pioneer of techno joins forces with the Noord Nederlands Orkest conducted by conductor Christophe Mangou. With techno classics such as The Bells, Sonic Destroyer and Imagine.

Jeff Mills is one of the founding fathers of dance music, especially Detroit techno. According to his vision, techno is not a genre but a vision of music, a futuristic statement. That view gives him the artistic freedom to be the first techno producer to have his work performed by the most important international orchestras. Mills likes to be inspired by science, science fiction and astronomy. For Blue Potential, he drew inspiration from The Planets by English composer Gustav Holst. Never before have you heard his techno classics like The Bells, Sonic Destroyer and Imagine!

From the vision to make symphonic music accessible to everyone, the orchestra likes to cooperate with artists from pop, dance, jazz and world music. Led by conductor Christophe Mangou, the timbres and possibilities of the oldest active professional orchestra in the Netherlands allow Jeff Mills to bring the distant planets to life in his music.
