Alina Ibragimova plays Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto

About the Event

Star violinist Alina Ibragimova returns to Amsterdam with the European Union Youth Orchestra and Tchaikovsky's heady Violin Concerto. Hungarian conductor Iván Fischer, musical director of the orchestra since 2024, also leads Stravinsky's enchanting The Firebird, about the struggle between good and evil.

Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto
Whether she is soloing in a famous violin concerto, or shining as primarius of the renowned Chiaroscuro Quartet, the expressive violinist Alina Ibragimova always knows how to enchant her audience. 'The directness and honesty of Ibragimova's playing have the remarkable ability to make any sense of distance between performer and listener disappear,' wrote The Guardian. She returns to The Concertgebouw with Tchaikovsky's impressive Violin Concerto with its exuberant final movement.

Stravinsky's Firebird
The European Union Youth Orchestra unites young talents from all European member states in one orchestra. Together with leading conductors and soloists, they tour the world's most beautiful concert halls. Conducted by Iván Fischer, the orchestra is coming to Amsterdam this summer with Stravinsky's colorful music for the ballet The Firebird. A musical fairy tale about the struggle between two magical creatures: the firebird who represents good and the evil sorcerer Kastshei, the embodiment of evil.
