Cinderella: Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Baden‐Baden's breathtaking Festspielhaus for the ultimate performance set to awake your understanding of dance.
The Bavarian State Ballet at the Festspielhaus for the first time — and then with a decidedly elaborate production. British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon has created a fairytale‐like choreography for the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam, based on the original fairytale version by the Brothers Grimm. The fairy tale in a nutshell? Poor girl becomes princess, or also: from ashes to diamond. In other words, made for the Christmas season. Prokofiev shows in his 'Cinderella' what he already proved in 'Peter and the Wolf', namely how splendidly he could compose music that delights children as well as adults. Like Prokofiev's 'Romeo and Juliet', his 'Cinderella' increases the musical expression to the operatic level — but is at the same time fairy‐tale‐like, cheeky and always tremendously inspired.
Cinderella
