Bruce Liu in Piano Recital: Great Interpreters at Bologna Festival
About the Event
Bruce Liu, the triumphant winner of the eighteenth edition of the Chopin Competition, dedicated his first recital in Warsaw to the victims of the Ukrainian war. It is a heartfelt gesture from a musician whose performances are imbued with both intellect and emotion. Liu's interpretations are characterized by their rigor, precision, and flawless execution. Born in Paris to Chinese parents and musically trained in Montreal, Liu's performance in Bologna showcases a departure from the expected Chopin repertoire. He delves into the classical works of Haydn and Beethoven, explores the 20th‐century compositions of Prokofiev, and concludes with the 'jazz‐inspired' Variations op.41 by Russian composer Nikolai Kapustin, known for his unique blend of classical and jazz influences.
