Apostel Paulus Kirche
Berlin, Germany
The Apostel‐Paulus‐Kirche is an imposing neo‐gothic structure in the middle of Berlin’s affluent non‐conformist suburb, Schöneberg. Built in the 1890s, and now a listed monument, the brick building incorporates elements of typically Brandenburg style.
Long a home for dissenting religious and political beliefs, the leadership of the Apostel‐Paulus‐Kirche was instrumental in resisting the National Socialist regime of the 1930s and early 40s. Badly damaged during World War Two, the restored interior now hosts internationally renowned musicians across all genres, including pop, world music and jazz. In 2014, the church hosted the only German date on the tour Vibrate: The Best of Rufus Wainwright.
