The Bösendorfer Piano Series is a series of intimate piano recitals in which nine top pianists shine behind our Bösendorfer Imperial Grand grand piano.
Many a time we have heard students of Enrico Pace in the Bösendorfer Piano Series, but tonight we hear the master himself! The evening begins with six pieces in the space of five minutes: Schoenberg clearly made no bones about it. Yet the 6 Small Klavierstücke are considered his most expressive music ever. Next we hear perhaps the most intimate of all Schubert's piano sonatas, the Sonata in G major. After intermission, Pace plays Johannes Brahms' beloved 3 Intermezzi, before closing the evening with Liszt's stunning harmonic vistas of the imaginary Swiss Vallée d'Oberman.
Enrico Pace is undoubtedly the most famous winner of the world‐famous Dutch Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Since then, he has performed regularly in the great concert halls of the world, with numerous renowned conductors and renowned orchestras. Pace is still considered the true musician among virtuosos: he turns the most difficult passages into pure poetry. “Enrico Pace orchestrates at the piano,” wrote Trouw. In addition to his solo career, Pace enjoys playing in chamber music ensembles and maintains close collaborations with prominent musicians such as violinist Leonidas Kavakos. Their recording of the complete Beethoven Sonatas for piano and violin was nominated for a Grammy Award. His passion for music and his constant pursuit of artistic excellence have made him one of the most celebrated pianists of his generation.
