About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Amsterdam's breathtaking De Waalse Kerk for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of music.

The Bösendorfer Piano Series is a series of intimate piano recitals in which nine top pianists shine behind our Bösendorfer Imperial Grand grand piano.

Each season the Bösendorfer Piano Series is pleased to offer a stage to Dutch emerging talent, this season: Aidan Mikdad, a name we will undoubtedly hear often. At just 19 years old, he proved himself as the youngest semifinalist at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition. He opens the evening with Beethoven's Sonata No. 28, in which Beethoven explores the limits of harmony, form and the range of the piano. Rachmaninov also sought the limits of pianistic ability in his Corelli Variations. Mikdad concludes his recital with a highlight of 19th‐century piano music: Chopin's Sonata No. 3. Guaranteed to be an evening of inspiration and discovery.

He is only 23, but Dutch pianist Aidan Mikdad already has a magnificent career to his credit. In July 2023, he received “The Queen's recommendation for excellence” at his graduation ceremony at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he also earned his master's degree cum laude. He earned his bachelor's degree with Professor Naum Grubert at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with the highest possible distinction. From an early age Aidan has been participating in international piano competitions and already has a full trophy cabinet. Mikdad also proved himself to the general public when he was allowed to fill in for the legendary Arcadi Volodos last‐minute at the World Master Pianists recital in Amare in 2022. He captivated the audience with his rendition of Skrjabin's Nocturne pour la main gauche seule op. 9, No. 2, a challenge that only the most gifted pianists dare to undertake. The ovational applause that followed was an expression of genuine admiration for the art and virtuosity Aidan displayed.
