Antikrist: Deutsche Oper Berlin
About the Event
Discover Rued Langgaard's opera 'Antikrist' in a new version by Ersan Mondtag at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
The Antichrist enters a godless world. Called by Lucifer himself, he reveals himself in many forms: through arrogance, ill‐will, lust, lies and hatred, humanity is tested and tried in the 'strife of all against all'.
Rued Langgaard's 'church opera', composed in the early 1920s and fundamentally revised by 1930, is a monolith in the composer's oeuvre, which is not lacking in exciting and unusual works.
