Alexander Malofeev: Piano recital at Philharmonie Berlin
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Kammermusiksaal
About the Event
It is not often that a critic immediately proclaims a “piano world revolution” (Der Standard) when a hitherto little‐known pianist enters the scene. This is what happened two years ago, when a young pianist stepped in and brought the Vienna Musikverein to the boil. Other media write of a “child prodigy” or quote someone who should know, as he himself was once a child prodigy on the keys: Daniel Barenboim was impressed by Alexander Malofeev's talent early on.
Ten years ago, Malofeev won first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 13. But a lot has happened since that early triumph: The corona pandemic and also the fact that Malofeev was forced to leave his Russian homeland for Berlin in 2022 — both of which could have been very unsettling for his career. However, this was not the case and Malofeev is now regarded as a rapidly rising star in the pianist's sky. He is unwavering in his pursuit of his career and inspires audiences not only with his brilliant technique and as a “lyricist with a penchant for rapture” (Die Presse), but also with his freshness and naturalness.
